As Vice President, Ticketing and Consumer Marketing he leads the marketing, sales and distribution of tickets as well as merchandising and consumer products to all Olympic and Paralympic events.
Denton graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in Business Administration and a Major in Finance & Marketing. He demonstrated his skills early by winning the Queen’s University Annual Intercollegiate Business Competition in 1994 in the Business Policy division. Denton began his career working with Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment during the construction of GM Place in 1995. At this time, he worked on the successful sales drive to secure the Vancouver Grizzlies NBA Franchise. His determination and his strong sport marketing competencies led to other key positions within the organization.
At the time of his departure from Orca Bay in 2006, Denton was Vice-President, Customer Sales & Service where he managed Marketing & Creative Services, Ticket Sales and Service as well as Retail and Licensing. During his time with Orca Bay, the Vancouver Canucks went from having a season ticket base of 7,700 to a season ticket base of 17,000 with more than 140 consecutive sellouts and a waiting list of over 3,000 people. The team was also in the top 5 in NHL retail sales.
Very active in the community, Denton supports numerous charity organizations and is also involved in various sport organizations. 2005 was a busy year as he assisted with the World Junior Hockey Championship and was responsible for ticket sales for the 2005 Grey Cup where both events produced record breaking revenue and attendance.
In addition to his full time job, his family life and his involvement in the community, Denton shares his knowledge and passion for sports marketing as a part-time instructor at Capilano University.
